Fibio

It hunts the margin between water and land, snapping insects from the air with a flick of a long tongue and diving for cover at the first hint of danger. Powerful hind legs give it a startling leap, and it can cross a whole reed-bed in a few bounding jumps or vanish into the water with barely a ripple. It calls at dusk in a resonant croak that carries across the wetland, and a chorus of Fibio answering one another from bank to bank is the sound of a Water-country evening settling in.
