Humbee

It rules a stretch of flowering ground as a benign despot, tolerating the Beezel that share it and driving off rivals with head-on collisions that sound like a dropped book. Its deep drone is audible across a whole field and functions as a boundary marker; where you hear a Humbee, you are in a Humbee's country. In cool weather it shivers its flight-muscles to warm up before dawn, a low idling hum in the dark, and lifts off only when the sun has properly arrived to meet it halfway.
