Frova

It grazes on the hardy frost-lichen of the pass, its pale downy body blending perfectly with the snow-dusted stems it clings to, feeding slowly in the cold and moving little. Nearly defenseless, it relies wholly on its camouflage and on the shelter of the deepest hollows, where the wind cannot reach it. As it prepares to pupate it spins itself a casing of frost and silk against a sheltered rock, sealing itself in for the long transformation ahead, and a cluster of Frova cocoons glittering with rime on a cavern wall is one of the pass's quiet, easily overlooked wonders.
