Kyreptil

It is a sit-and-wait predator with a metabolism to match, capable of going long stretches between meals and spending most daylight simply thermoregulating on a favored rock. When prey wanders close it strikes with a lunge startlingly fast for so ponderous a creature, then returns to its rock to digest for days. Its armored skull doubles as a shield and a battering tool, and rival males settle disputes with slow, jarring head-to-head shoves that ring across the flat like distant hammering.
