Purrghast

It presides over the largest and most haunted of Pawbury's estates like a small sovereign, its nine tails drifting and coiling around it in a slow luminous corona. It commands lesser ghosts, and a Purrghast's household of subordinate spirits moves at its whim, so that to trouble the cat is to trouble the whole haunting. Its nine tails can act semi-independently, reaching, distracting, and striking on their own, which makes it a bafflingly difficult creature to face. It is old, patient, and proud beyond measure, and it regards the living with the remote, unhurried interest of something that expects to outlast them all.
