Dugterra

It tunnels not to hide but to hunt and to build, carving cathedral-sized chambers deep beneath Wostin where the temperature holds steady against the surface extremes. It can sense the tread of a large creature through hundreds of meters of sand and will rise to meet a worthwhile meal in a single upward eruption that leaves a crater. Abandoned Dugterra chambers become oases of a sort, cool refuges that draw dozens of smaller species, so that the desert's most private creature is also, unwittingly, its greatest landlord.
