Flowish

It lives in the current itself, facing upstream and letting the flow bring its food to it, darting aside to snap up drifting morsels and returning always to its held position. It schools in tight, flashing shoals that turn as one, a silver confusion that baffles predators, and it uses the fast water as both larder and refuge, riding flows that clumsier hunters cannot follow. Come spawning it fights its way upstream against the strongest currents it can find, and a river full of Flowish battling the flow in flashing ranks is the Water country's own quiet announcement of the turning season.
