Sandril

It moves through the sand as much as over it, spinning its spiraled shell to drill smoothly beneath the surface and travel unseen, surfacing to feed or to ambush. That drilling spire doubles as a formidable weapon, and a Sandril breaching upward beneath prey drives home with the full force of its spin. It carves long helical tunnels through the dunes, and abandoned Sandril borings become highways for smaller burrowers, so that the desert beneath a Sandril's range is threaded with the graceful spiral roads of its passing.
